Social Media and Digital Security Education Research Association (SODİMER) President Prof. Dr. Levent Eraslan stated that the security information of users was tried to be stolen by “phishing” method in some digital channels and that everyone should take digital security measures against these attempts.
Prof. Dr. Eraslan stated to the AA correspondent that as the ground of the digital world expands, the number of people who want to abuse this area increases.
Eraslan pointed out that digital channels have both advantages and disadvantages and stated that the weakest link in digital security is human.
Eraslan explained that users should give importance to their digital security and be aware of this issue.
“Recently, an important application system of our country has been seized by hackers. The names, addresses, phone numbers, e-mails, orders and habits and unfortunately passwords of the people have been seized.
Our suggestion to people is that if such services have passwords, they should first change the passwords. If they are not using the applications, they need to delete them from their phones, use upper and lower case letters and 8 characters in password security and pay attention to it. “
“Phishing methods should be paid attention to”
Eraslan stated that the confidential information of users is tried to be obtained and victimized by “phishing” method in digital areas.
Saying that “cheap is definitely expensive”, Eraslan stated that attention should be paid to gift coupon links and similar links sent over the internet, and continued as follows:
“Such initiatives are one of the most used phishing techniques by digital thieves. Citizens should not use public wi-fi applications too much, do not store very important information digitally, and not share any information, documents and images that will disturb them in the future.
According to a study conducted this year, Turks play video games 10 points above the world average. Video games also have chat rooms at the bottom. There, too, various information from people is obtained through social engineering. For example ‘what is your grandmother’s last name?’ The maiden name of the mother of the person is seized with the question. This is a security question as we all know. or ‘what is your father’s favorite animal?’ this is a security question used by banks. We should pay attention to these and never share our personal information on social media. “
