US National Aviation and Space Agency (NASA) The sounds made by the mini helicopter Ingenuity, which was sent to Mars with the reconnaissance vehicle Perseverance, during its 4th flight were broadcast.
The helicopter named Ingenuity, which was on NASA’s Perseverance spacecraft, which was launched on July 30, 2020 and landed in the Jezero crater on the Red Planet on February 18, 2021, recently completed its 4th flight. The sounds made by Ingenuity during this flight were recorded by Perseverance. In the statement made by NASA, “Spacecraft on another planet for the first time recorded the sounds of another spacecraft” expressions were used. It was stated that Perseverance used one of his two microphones to listen to the helicopter’s fourth flight on April 30th.
“I’ve seen what the Mars helicopter can do and now I’ve heard it. Put on headphones and listen to the extraterrestrial hum of Ingenuity’s blades as you head south to explore a new region on its fourth flight,” said the official social media account posted on the Perseverance spacecraft.
It made its 5th flight
On the other hand, NASA announced that Ingenuity has also made its fifth flight. In the statement made by Perseverance’s social media account, “The fifth flight is successful! The Mars helicopter is starting a new phase to test the future of air exploration.” Also, in the image shared by the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, it was seen that the team celebrated the helicopter’s final flight with applause.
For the first time in history, NASA performed a remote aircraft flight on another planet on April 19.
