In the 100th anniversary of the Republic, the first ignition of the national and original hybrid rocket engine planned to be used in the unmanned vehicle to be sent to the Moon within the scope of the National Space Program was made. In the test carried out, the hybrid rocket engine in question successfully passed its first test. Stating that the engines are showing full performance, Minister Varank said, “Our goal is 2023. The Turkish Flag will be brought together with the Moon”.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan‘S one of the nine declared in February that Turkey’s National Space Program had been the target of the most remarkable mission moon. According to the two-legged target, a hard landing on the Moon with an unmanned vehicle in 2023 and a soft landing in 2028 will be realized.
MINISTER VARANK GO TO REVIEW
Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank visited Delta V’s Rocket Engine Ignition Facility in Şile, which develops national and original hybrid rocket engines in order to see the work carried out in line with these goals. The visit at Delta V, a subsidiary of the Presidential Defense Industry Presidency, started with a meeting. Meeting Industry and Technology Deputy Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacar, Defense Industry Executive Vice President and Delta V Chairman Faruk Yigit, BAYKAR Technical Manager Selcuk Bayraktar, President of TÜBİTAK Hasan Mandal, Turkey Space Agency (TUA) leader Serdar Huseyin Yildirim, Director of the Institute TUBITAK Space Technologies Mesut Gökten, TÜBİTAK SAGE Institute Director Gürcan Okumuş and Delta V General Manager Arif Karabeyoğlu attended.
TESTS HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL
At the meeting, while the development of the spacecraft planned to land hard on the Moon in 2023 was discussed, the ignition systems of hybrid rocket engines, high pressure composite tanks, valve and regulator systems were also discussed in detail. At the end of the meeting, the delegation moved to the command center where rocket engines tests were conducted. After the security measures were taken, the countdown for firing was started. At the command of Minister Varank, the vertical firing test of the propulsion system of the Hybrid Probe Rocket (SORS), which was first developed by Delta V and would cross the space boundary, was carried out. The second firing was made for the hybrid rocket engine of the National Space Program, which is planned to be used in the hard landing mission on the Moon in 2023. Tests have been completed successfully. Both engines ran smoothly for the duration as planned.
“A 50 SECOND IGNITION”
Minister Varank and the accompanying delegation examined the systems in the test area again at the end of the firings and received information about the results of the test. Varank stated that they made two very successful firings, both the Probe Rocket System (SORS) ignition and the first ignition of the hybrid engine planned to be used in the lunar mission. Stating that there was a targeted time of 50 seconds in the tests, Varank said, “This 50-second ignition has successfully completed. The first tests of the engine that can be used in the lunar mission have been successfully done.”
“OUR GOAL is 2023”
President Erdogan that explains Turkey’s map 10-year path in space and one of the most important components of this roadmap ‘moon mission’ Noting that Varank, “Moon mission in our target in 2023, Turkey’s ability to reach the moon its own spacecraft. Here in Turkey ‘ We want to use all the capabilities of our company and the capabilities of all our companies. Delta V is a company belonging to the Presidency of Defense Industry, which works with hybrid rocket engines, which are considered to be a new technology in the world. Our teacher Arif (Karabeyoğlu) carries out all these processes, “he said.
“THESE DEVELOPED TECHNOLOGIES ARE VERY VALUABLE”
Varank, explaining that they witnessed two ignition, “the ignition of the motor One 635 millimeter probe at next month’s launch of the rocket. At the same time the moon mission, so a smaller engine we aim to use the space we have done the test of the still firing. Turkey, especially their ability in space applications show the world “At the same time, it is a country that wants to commercialize these capabilities and gain economic benefits from it. Therefore, the technologies you have developed in this field are very valuable.”
WE WILL BE FIRED IN SINOP IN MAY
Stating that liquid oxygen oxidized hybrid engine technology is a new technology that they attach great importance to, Varank stated that they successfully carried out the ignitions and that they were excited and happy in this process. Very valuable young people to invest in the future of Turkey and the Minister stressed that they showed a great effort to develop the technology Varank, “an example of the probe rocket engines, I hope to be fired from Sinop in May. We plan to fold Important distances,” he said.
“TURKISH FLAG WILL MEET WITH THE MOON”
Varank said, “We think that we can achieve the first leg of our lunar mission goal in 2023. That is, we will bring our spacecraft to the Moon. We will have brought the Turkish flag to the Moon. In this sense, it is happy and proud to make the first ignition of the engine here.”
THE ENGINES SHOWED FULL PERFORMANCE
Delta V General Manager Arif Karabeyoğlu emphasized that both engines provide the expected performance exactly and said, “We have achieved the firing times we want. We have achieved the thrust forces we want. We can say that it is a full success. The tests of the moon engine will continue by accelerating from now on. Maybe we did one of the first tests. . But maybe we will do hundreds of tests. We will ensure the reliability. The probe was not the first test of the rocket. We did many tests before. But this is the longest burning, highest performance test. What will happen next? If everything goes well in May, I hope they will launch probe at high altitudes. “We tested the rocket engine of the spacecraft that will go to the Moon. We go to the Moon step by step,” he said.
A HIGHLY INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY
The Probe Rocket System hybrid engine developed by Delta V passed the vertical firing test and achieved total thrust at a level that could reach space. It was learned that in the coming months, a “flight demonstration” will be held with launch tests. Sors of one of Turkey’s largest rocket system also has the world’s most advanced hybrid rocket motor technology, which comprises oxidizing liquid and solid fuels and transferred as an innovative technology.
