World’s largest Aviation, Space While the preparations for TEKNOFEST 2021 continue at full speed, the pre-selection processes of the rockets that will compete in the festival have been completed.
Applications for the Rocket Competition, organized within the scope of TEKNOFEST, to increase students’ interest in the fields of space technologies and rocket science and to improve their skills in this field have ended.
A record number of applications were made to the Rocket Competition, which will host students for the fourth time this year.
A total of 544 teams applied for the TEKNOFEST Rocket Competition this year. While the highest number of applications were made with 296 teams in the “medium altitude” category, this was with 223 applications.liseThe category followed.
While 21 teams applied for the “high altitude” category, 4 teams made their applications to the “challenging duty” category, which was opened for the first time this year.
The Rocket Competition, organized under the roof of the T3 Foundation, under the leadership of Roketsan and TÜBİTAK SAGE, will be held between 1-12 September in Tuz Lake in Aksaray. The winning teams will be announced at TEKNOFEST, which will be held at Istanbul Atatürk Airport between September 21-26.
Teams Will Compete in 4 Different Categories
There are 4 different categories in the competition, which is open to high school, associate degree, undergraduate and graduate students as a team.
The competition consists of high school (5000 feet), medium altitude (10,000 feet), extreme duty (10,000 feet) and high altitude (20,000 feet) categories. The basis of the competition is that the rockets designed and produced by the teams reach the target altitude, separating the minimum 4 kg payload carried in the rocket from the rocket by various methods; It is aimed to save both rocket components and payload by lowering them securely to the ground with a parachute.
Within the scope of the competition, teams are expected to prepare 3 different reports: Preliminary Design Report, Critical Design Report and Shooting Preparation Report. The teams that are eligible to receive financial support after the pre-elimination according to the evaluation results of the Preliminary Design Reports will be determined according to the Critical Design Report results. Teams, their designs; According to a rocket engine they will choose from the published Engine Catalogs.
