Turkey Space Agency President Serdar Huseyin Yildirim, Istanbul Technical University (BTU), Turkey Space Agency and the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality organized in collaboration with IT Architect Sinan Campus Living Space Mars Ideas Competition Jury Prize in 2050 spoke at the ceremony.
Yıldırım said, “Our ultimate mission is to make a soft landing on the moon and download a vehicle until the end of 2028. To collect some data from there within the framework of a traveling vehicle and scientific study and deliver it to our country.” said
Stating that space is a very strategic field, Yıldırım reiterated that those who are not in space cannot have a say on Earth.
Stating that the National Space Program was prepared in a 1.5-year period, Yıldırım said:
“On February 9, our program was announced to the world from the mouth of our President. We received positive reactions both at home and abroad. Of course, there are some criticisms, but they are not very important, they are happening all over the world.”
“Previously unfamiliar with the name of Turkey Space Agency, grimacing as if he knew facing many countries, they call us begin to question both this program and congratulated on where they might be.”
“This includes the big ones. So I’m talking including Japan, China, Russia, European countries and US companies.”
Mentioning his goal of “reaching the moon”, Yıldırım continued his words as follows:
“Hopefully we will reach the Moon as well. First, a contact until the end of 2023. I want to clarify that. Our ultimate mission is to make a soft landing on the moon and land a vehicle by the end of 2028.”
“To deliver a browsing tool for our country and collect data from there a number of scientific studies in the frame. This is something very revolutionary for Turkey.”
“The whole mission is made up of difficult chain links. None of these links are made individually or even tried. So when you complete this chain, there is a big risk.”
“No matter how much we prepare for the year 2028, when we face a problem somewhere, the mission will be unfinished. We wanted to put an intermediate mission for this.”
“2023 is an important year as it is the 100th anniversary of our Republic. It has a nice symbolic meaning to raise our flag to the moon in that year, but our goal is to fire an engine in space.”
“Firing our own rocket engine in space. When we fire it, we are already among the top 7 countries in the world. There are very few countries that can do this.”
